The Department of Medical Imaging at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto is currently recruiting a full-time fellowship-trained, academic thoracic radiologist in Cardiothoracic Imaging division. This is a "partnership-track" position. The successful candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with each candidate's qualifications and experience. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2018.

The successful candidates will be committed to outstanding quality in clinical operations, teaching and research and will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent. They will be self-starters and team players. They must have a strong commitment to excellent patient care, research and teaching.

There will be an evening coverage component to each position in order to provide required after-hours staff service coverage to the hospital's clinical programs.

St. Michael's Hospital is a busy, 600-bed tertiary care and major trauma centre and one of four principal teaching hospitals within the Department of Medical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine, and University of Toronto. The hospital has a long history of recognized excellence in radiology teaching. There are 9 ultrasound units, 3 multi-detector CT scanners, and 4 MRI scanners (one of which is a dedicated research MRI). A research PET/CT scanner is also being actively procured for the department.

There are over 50 radiology residents from the Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto who also rotate through the Department. The hospital houses the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute and the Keenan Research Centre providing world-class research support and affording many opportunities to engage in collaborative radiology research.

The Cardiothoracic division encompasses chest CT, MRI, chest x-ray and lung biopsy services supporting strong and busy hospital programs in respirology, internal medicine, thoracic surgery, and family medicine. Subspecialty areas serviced by the department also include the largest adult Cystic Fibrosis program in North America, the largest Canadian Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia program, the largest outpatient Tuberculosis Clinic in Toronto as well as HIV, Immunology and Hepatopulmonary Syndrome clinics. Each year, there are 2 full-time cardiothoracic clinical fellows rotating through the service.

The successful candidate will require fellowship training in thoracic/pulmonary imaging and must be trained in chest CT, including CT for interstitial lung disease, chest x-ray interpretation, lung biopsies and general x-ray reporting. S/he will be expected to rotate through all of these areas independently. Additional training or expertise in abdominal imaging, including body US, CT, MRI and general fluoroscopy will be a strong asset.
