Primary Function of Organization Unit: Enrollment Management works across the student life cycle, from identifying prospective students, through graduation, and beyond. Many of EMAS' functions are at the intersection of critical academic services creates an opportunity for strategic investment that can positively impact student outcomes, reduce time to degree, promote awareness of NC State's brand beyond North Carolina, and create business efficiencies.

Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to assist The Wilson College of Textiles and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in identifying, recruiting and enrolling well qualified rural and/or first-generation students each academic year. The Recruitment Coordinator will provide customer service, support, and recruitment to prospective students, school counselors, and families. This new position will reside in the Enrollment Management and Services Division (EMAS) and be joint position with The Wilson College of Textiles and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • 2+ years of experience in higher education (with a preference in recruitment, admissions, academic advising, or student services)

    Department Required Skills:

  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time to high schools, community colleges and other Pioneers and CALS Scholars Program recruitment and/or yield events.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a team member.
  • Strong organization and time management skills to ensure scheduled deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency - must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized management information systems (databases).
  • Demonstrated ability to make accurate and consistent interpretations of a broad variety of academic and/or administrative policies and procedures
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel, or organizational matters
  • Work requires in-depth analysis and counseling skills along with independent judgment and discretion to render appropriate admissions decisions in an increasingly competitive market.
  • Flexibility to travel for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds

    Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

  • Experience in a University work setting is a plus.
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in counseling, higher education or student services.
  • Significant time spent living in or working with students from a rural community.
  • Experience in event planning is a plus.
  • Experience with a variety of technology.

    Necessary Licenses and Certifications:

  • A valid North Carolina driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of start date.
