RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: This Research Specialist A will work with Dr. Sydney Shaffer, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine to perform experiments related to investigating the functional consequences of single-cell heterogeneity in cancer. This position will involve work with cell culture models of cancer, molecular biology assays, and microscopy based analysis. Cell culture responsibilities will include maintaining of cell lines, treatment with different drugs, transfections, and virus infections of cell lines. Molecular biology experiments will include cloning and preparation of sequencing libraries. Microscopy experiments will include single-cell imaging with single-molecule RNA fluorescence in situ hybridization (RNA FISH) and immunofluorescence. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining an inventory of lab supplies and assist in ordering of supplies.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, Attention to detail, organizational skills, reliability, ability to work independently and willingness to work cooperatively with others is extremely important.
