TCSL SEQUENCING & ASSAY AUTOMATION PLATFORM LEAD
Duties: Translational and Correlative Studies Laboratory (TCSL) Sequencing and Assay Automation Platform Lead will be tasked with managing and using the NGS instrument as well as the automated sample extraction and NGS library preparation instruments, acquiring and performing quality control of the sequence data, and analysis of the data, generation of reports and summaries for clients. He/she will also be required to extend the sequencing portfolio to more challenging applications including bulk RNA sequencing (RNAseq), whole exome sequencing, single cell RNAseq and other cutting edge technologies. This may involve selection and purchase of new instrumentation or using core instruments. The TCSL Sequencing and Assay Automation Platform Lead will also be responsible for performing or sourcing the necessary sequence analysis and bioinformatics to allow the TCSL Director, TCSL Data Manager and the Service Center clients to make use of the data. This position will train and direct at least one Research Specialist to assist in the generation of NGS data. This position will also promote NGS services to new clients, thus improving TCSL support for CCI clinical trials and generating revenue for the TCSL Service Center. This position is essential and may require weekends, evenings and University holiday coverage.
Qualifications: The minimum of a Master's degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. The successful candidate must have prior experience in the following methodologies: DNA/RNA isolation, sequencing library preparation, knowledge of NGS technologies and data analysis. Prior experience with process and assay automation is required. Prior experience with human clinical trials and working in fast paced environment is preferred. Strong communication skills required. Prior experience working with equipment vendors and cores is required. This individual should be able to train, direct and manage staff and work collaboratively within and outside TCSL.
