Radiological Sciences Faculty Member

Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology has an opening for a full-time faculty member in the Radiological Sciences Division.

Duties:

The successful recruit will be required to participate in our clinical physics practice and to excel in one or more of our primary missions: education, research, and clinical service. The Radiological Sciences Division provides medical physics services in X-ray, Fluoroscopy, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, MRI and Nuclear Medicine at University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) and its affiliates. Duties include acceptance testing, maintenance of state registration, ACR and Joint Commission (TJC) certification and troubleshooting of equipment, as well as room shielding and follow-up testing for new equipment. UCH is an ACR Diagnostic Center of Excellence and service commensurate with this designation is expected. Active participation in hospital quality and safety committees, in staff, fellow, resident and medical school education and in clinical research is expected.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:




Applicants should have a M.S. or PhD Degree in medical physics or a related field. They should be certified in Diagnostic Medical Physics by the ABR or be actively pursuing certification

Required Competencies:




Competency is required in the performance of general medical physics. The applicant should have the ability to independently test X-ray, fluoroscopy, mammography, CT, MRI and ultrasound imaging equipment according to Joint Commission and American College of Radiology standards. The ability to perform room shielding design and verify the presence of shielding in diagnostic imaging rooms is required. Eligibility to become a qualified inspector in the State of Colorado is required. The applicant should have at least two years of experience in the clinical radiology environment.

Preferred Qualifications:




Preferred applicants should have a history of successful project management, organization and record keeping skills and in working successfully in interactive teams that include clinicians, hospital staff and administrators. Teaching experience in an academic hospital setting is desired. A demonstrated research focus in diagnostic radiology is desired.
