Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Experience with academic career advising within a higher educational setting preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to build rapport with students and will be knowledgeable in regards to student development theory and working with a diverse college student population. The candidate will have excellent organizational skills, as well as attention to accuracy and detail. Exemplary written and oral communication skills for a variety of audiences are highly desirable. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, while being cognizant of differing work styles is preferred. Preference for a candidate with an appreciation for the Allied Health Sciences and Liberal Arts education, and the ability to discuss career paths with students.

Position Summary:

The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders seeks to hire a professional who is committed to assisting students at various points in their undergraduate academic careers. This position provides advising for undergraduate students including those interested in the program and declared majors. Our students prepare for graduate study in the CS&D field, as well as various other fields. This is a new position intended to grow our department's advising offerings and to help ensure a high-quality experience for students who interact with CS&D. The position includes individual advising appointments, group advising and online/email delivery of information.
