Position Information
Under general direction, the position serves as the Financial and Extramural Funds Administrator for the Dean's Office and performs complex analysis, research, and budget administration for the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering. Prepares reports, analyses, and materials for presentation to the Dean, CFAO, Associate Deans, and Department Chairs, with special attention to complex analysis and sensitive information. Confers with and advises key management personnel regarding the fiscal operations of the College. Perform complex budget/resource analysis including forecasting, retrieving data from campus financial systems, organizing and validating data, and preparing comprehensive reports on an ad hoc basis. Reviews, monitors, and maintains faculty start-up package funds, coordinate annual carry forward and fiscal closing processes for the college, and provides support in the areas of PAN review and ledger reconciliation. Serves as the college contract/grant post award administrator, monitoring compliance, reporting, and close out of awards. As an experienced research administrator, provides leadership and high-level administrative and technical support for contract and grant post-award administration, accounting, financial management, and reporting responsibilities requiring a thorough understanding of complex regulations. Serves as liaison for faculty and departments between Research and Economic Development office and Extramural Fund Accounting. Guides and mentor less experienced staff.

Minimum Requirements
In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; service orientation; advanced critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, effective organizational skills.
Ability to present complex finance related information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally.
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to identify, collect and analyze information from a variety of sources.
Knowledge of contract & grant post award administration.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience working for an institution of higher education.

Demonstrated experience using UCR financial systems and research applications.

Knowledge of UC Policies and procedures and on-line campus financial systems.

Extensive knowledge of UC System wide and campus Contacts and Grants policies and procedures.
