Safety Coordinator (Req. 29135)

Under the direction of the Facilities Management (FM)  Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC), the  Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing safety training programs designed to reduce campus injury and accidents, specifically focused in FM. The incumbent will facilitate classroom training, safety meetings, prepare and present progress reports as required.

  • Knowledge of sterile techniques used in tissue culture.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, administrators, managers, subordinates, and academia.
  • Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the importance of the job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of principles of occupational safety and health gained from a college level educational background or equivalent work experience.
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety codes to access, and provide accurate information to the campus community.
  • Ability to make oral group presentations to persuade others to accept a specific action or opinion and to provide information to explain procedures, polices, etc.
  • Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and related business software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical data and make recommendations based on the data.
  • Detailed knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, AQMD and other applicable state and federal codes and ability to interpret the meaning to the campus community.

This position is a contract appointment ending no later than 6/30/2020.
