Program Administrator - CIRCLE, Tisch College - Washington, D.C. Location-18001820

This position is located in Washington, D. C. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

The Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life prepares students in all fields of study for lifetimes of active citizenship. Tisch College promotes new knowledge in the field and applies this knowledge to evidence-based practice in programs, community partnerships, and advocacy efforts. Central to the university’s mission, the college offers Tufts’ students opportunities to engage in meaningful community building, civic and political experiences, and explore commitments to civic participation.

The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) is a research-based think tank that studies how young people in the United States learn to become active participants in our democracy. CIRCLE studies a broad range of topics, from K-12 civic education, youth organizing, youth and civic media, to community characteristics that promote civic development. The central focus of its work is on expanding access to civic learning and engagement opportunities, especially for marginalized youth.

The Program Administrator provides specialized, subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, review and evaluate a university Program or Project in collaboration with Manager or Director. Participates in development of goals and strategies; creates data management and filing systems; develops, analyzes and monitors budgets, grants and contracts; and participates in development and implements marketing and advertising efforts including writing content for website and social media material. May design and represent program externally at conferences, meetings and events. Conducts research and drafts reports and results. May oversee recruitment and management of study subjects. May provide advice and counseling to students. Coordinates hiring and training of staff, students and temporary help.
Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
  • 3+ years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 1-2 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in related discipline and 3+ years of experience in related field of study.
  • Knowledge of or experience in youth civic and political engagement.
  • Interest in data, research or systemic reform efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with practitioners and other stakeholders in a variety of communities with racial and economic diversity.
