Professional Research Assistant

The nature of this work is patient care in a research environment. The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension is looking for a Registered Nurse (Professional Research Assistant) to work as a clinical research coordinator in a clinic setting. There is a mix of industry studies and investigator-initiated studies.

This PRA will work under the direction of the Clinical Manager and the Renal Division research physicians.

Examples of Work Performed

The RN (Research Professional) will perform the following duties: IRB protocol submissions; ongoing management of the study review process according to site/sponsor/IRB guidelines; patient screening, recruitment, consent process, and enrollment for ongoing clinical research projects, including all follow-up management visits and case report form completion; the creation of source documents as required by each protocol; maintenance of source documentation and drug accountability; dispensation of study drug; perform phlebotomy and insert IV's as required by each protocol; EKG's and blood pressures as required by each protocol; perform vascular testing as required by each protocol (training is available), attend investigator meetings as required by each protocol; conduct staff in-services prior to implementation of a new research trial; provide ongoing communication with dialysis staff as to the status of research protocols and patient participation in dialysis-related protocols.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology. Ability to work well with others and exceptional communication skills. Technical skills: blood pressure monitoring, EKG's, phlebotomy, and IV catheter placement.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's-prepared registered nurse
