Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Division of Environmental Health and Public Safety (EH&PS) encompasses the following departments: Environmental Health & Safety, Campus Police, Transportation, Insurance & Risk Management, Business Continuity, Security Applications and Technologies and Threat Assessment. The Division is comprised of more than 200 professional and support staff members. EH&PS provides leadership to the university community by being a progressive and innovative provider of public safety, transportation and environmental health services. The business of the Division is driven by federal, state, local, and University mandates, regulatory compliance, and customer service.
Essential Job Duties: This position is the Accounting Technician for the Environmental Health & Safety Center and Campus Police. The business of these units is dynamic, moderately fast-paced and mandates that the incumbent of this position thrive in an environment with constant interruptions and quick, turn-around expectations. This position works with the following funding types: appropriated, F&A, receipts, trust, discretionary & grant. Primary responsibilities include: * Accounts Payable & Receivable * Monthly account reconciliation * Monthly financial reports * Budget management * Fiscal analysis * Serving as back-up to Business Officer when Business Officer is out
Department Required Skills: * Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial System, or similar system. * Proficient use of Excel to create reports * Excellent customer service skills to effectively convey accounting/financial information in a clear and concise manner * Strong attention to details and highly organized * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to understand the business of EH&PS * Ability to think strategically in order to prioritize and assign tasks accordingly * Exemplary ability to multi-task * Exemplary time management skills * Employs formal conflict resolution skills and active listening. * Demonstrates good judgment * Ability to interpret and apply departmental and University policies.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * 3 plus years accounting experience * Employee must be highly skilled in Microsoft Office * Experience in a dynamic, moderately fast-paced office environment. * Travel, Voucher, PCard, Marketplace and Reporting components * Experience with financial reporting & analysis.
