The University of Chicago Campaign: Inquiry and Impact (http://campaign.uchicago.edu), the most ambitious and comprehensive campaign in the University's history, is raising $5 billion to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University. The campaign supports priorities in every division, school, department, and institute. Along with its fundraising goal, the campaign has an equally ambitious goal of engaging 125,000 alumni and friends through intellectual, professional, and social activities on campus, around the world, and online. A central component of the University's Office of Alumni Relations and Development (ARD), the Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Team (AEAG) is comprised of alumni relations staff, communication professionals, and annual giving officers who work collaboratively to boost constituent engagement and retention, raise annual funds, manage strategic alumni events and services, and operate the University's global alumni association.
The Executive Director, AEAG, oversees an integrated, university-wide alumni relations, volunteer engagement, and annual giving program and is responsible for achieving ambitious alumni engagement and annual giving goals. The Executive Director manages a senior team of alumni relations, annual giving, and communications professionals and collaborates with colleagues throughout ARD and the broader University to execute programs that increase participation, revenue, and engagement from alumni. This role manages a team of 40+ professionals and their strategic impact, serves as the executive director of the University of Chicago Alumni Association, and reports to the Associate Vice-President of Alumni Relations and Development.
- Serve as Executive Director of the university-wide alumni association, serving 160,000 University of Chicago alumni world-wide.
- Direct an integrated alumni relations, volunteer engagement, and annual giving program designed to increase engagement of the University's global alumni body and to achieve ambitious annual giving goals.
- Manage a senior team of alumni relations and annual giving professionals, motivate and support their work, and lead the team in successfully achieving shared engagement and annual giving goals.
- Direct the planning, organization, and execution of a comprehensive schedule of global and domestic programs designed to revive, cultivate, maintain, and strengthen alumni ties to the University.
- Oversee College and signature campus programming critical to fundraising initiatives and ensuring community impact locally and globally.
- Direct and enhance the work of alumni volunteer bodies across the globe, including a pan-university, representative Alumni Board; College Reunion committees; global alumni clubs and boards; and affinity groups.
- Represent the University and the alumni association externally to a varied range of constituents.
- Align marketing, communications, and direct appeals to alumni with the larger branding and engagement objectives of ARD and the University.
- Maintain collegial relationships university-wide as well as with Trustees and the Alumni Board to increase the engagement and participation of alumni, parents, students and friends.
- Coach and mentor alumni relations and annual giving gift officers to meet annual goals and metrics.
- Hire, manage, evaluate, and develop staff as needed and as assigned.
- Manage the annual budget associated for assigned programs.
- Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.

Education, Experience or Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience required.
- A minimum of four years of management experience, including staff management, required.
- A minimum of two years of experience developing and monitoring budgets required.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including Griffin (the University's Donor Relationship Management System), Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends.
