Nursing Graduate Program Practicum Coordinator

Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a Nursing Graduate Program Practicum Coordinator. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating practicums for the graduate nursing program. They will also serve as a liaison between the sites, students, nursing practicum adjunct faculty and preceptors. Assist in the organization of the FNP Residency and meet with students during the weekend to prepare for upcoming practicums.

Primary responsibilities include:

A. Practicum:
Coordinate clinical rotations for: MS in Nursing Education, MS in Nursing Leadership, and MS-FNP practicum courses; When appropriate will identify and develop practicum sites necessary to meet the needs of the nursing graduate student; Serve as a liaison between the nursing department, clinical sites and the appropriate school offices at Utica College; Initiate and maintain contracts between Utica College and all clinical sites; Maintain student health records for practicum; Maintain practicum faculty licensure and health records; Maintain student practicum records using practicum tracking software and prepare records for accreditation; Maintain contact with clinical site facilities; Maintain preceptor agreement; Update graduate nursing student practicum handbook as well as graduate nursing practicum preceptor handbook; Serve as the point person for nursing practicum adjuncts. Provide pre- and post- semester meetings to address any issues that occur throughout the semester; May need to travel to assist with any practicum concerns; Organize and assist with clinical site visits as needed; Provide student advising to graduate nursing students regarding the practicum experience; Maintain licensure in states where practicums are held.


B. Nursing Graduate Residency:
Assist with updating the NUR 611 Advanced Health Assessment & Diagnostic Reasoning I and NUR 612 Advanced Health Assessment & Diagnostic Reasoning II laboratory guides; Organize NUR 995 NP Skills Residency; Maintain nursing labs (i.e. order supplies, etc.) for the residency.

C. Must possess an unencumbered nursing license in New York State.

D. Understanding or ability to learn and use the Learning Management System; Understanding or ability to learn and use the Clinical Tracking Platform.

Qualifications:

BS in Nursing or related field in Health Sciences; MS in Nursing preferred from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization; Must possess an unencumbered nursing license in New York State.
