Description

The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students with the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters while actively attending classes at LCC.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Student employees in the Health & Human Services Division Office will provide general office assistance, including answering the phones, prepare mailings, meeting preparation, updating documents/spreadsheets/databases, proofreading, greeting and assisting visitors and division employees, and providing additional office support, as needed.

Core Competencies:

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite

Use good listening skills by being perceptive; be able to communicate effectively when serving customers (i.e. written, verbal, interpersonal)

Comfortable using and familiarity with multi-line phones systems which includes answering and actively listening when possible and transferring calls appropriately as needed

Assist customers and office visitors in a friendly, welcoming manner

Able to respond to program questions with accurate information

Able to distribute mail, type, copy and file

Run on-campus errands

Assist staff, administrators and faculty as directed

Provide occasional back-up for the Massage Clinic

Maintain confidentiality of student/client records and information

Be respectful of all people

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be detail-oriented and willing to learn, take direction, and follow through on projects in a timely manner
  • Be available to work up to 25 hours a week during the HHS office hours of Monday through Friday between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Not enrolled in any of the Health & Human Services Division courses/programs
  • High school diploma/GED and actively pursuing an Associates or undergraduate degree at LCC

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent computer/keyboarding skills and customer service skills, working knowledge of MS Office Suite preferred
  • 3.0 GPA preferred
  • Previous office experience preferred

Education and Experience

The following requirements apply each semester, in order to maintain eligibility and continue working as a student employee:

- Enrolled & actively attending is required to maintain employment eligibility (i.e. minimum LCC credit hours by semester):

    Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 creditsSummer Semester = 3.0 credits

- International students with an F-1 visa and valid I-20 issued by LCC must meet the following minimum enrollment/credit requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS) regulations:

    Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 creditsSummer Semester = 3.0 credits
- Minimum 2.0 GPA or have approval to waive requirement unless it is the student’s first semester of enrollment at LCC

- Must be at least 18 years of age and/or a high school graduate who is at least 17 with a valid, signed work permit

Hours per Week: Up to 25 Hours

Hourly Wage: $9.60
