Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-- Minimum of 2 years' of professional editorial experience in a publishing or communications environment required
-- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and experience using InDesign; knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
-- Demonstrated success functioning in an account manager role
-- Strong customer-service skills
-- Knowledge and understanding of communications technology, including printing, online, social, search, mobile, and presentation
-- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities
-- Excellent written, interpersonal, and group presentation communication skills
-- Strong editorial skills, including manuscript preparation and review, copyediting, writing/rewriting, and proofreading
-- Adaptability and flexibility in evolving situations
-- Ability to meet deadlines, identify problems, and proactively find solutions
-- Superior client service and demonstrated ability to grow internal and external client relationships
-- Knowledge and passion for UW-Madison and higher education a plus

University Marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an editor/account manager. As a member of University Marketing, the individual in this role will be expected to interact and consult with academic, outreach, and communications staff around campus in support of outreach and public information activities, including the development and dissemination of university-related information to internal and external audiences. The editor will be responsible for managing the creation of communication, marketing, and promotional materials, including books, brochures, posters, ads, newsletters, and websites. Editorial and production responsibilities include client relations, scheduling, editing, copywriting, proofreading, and project management.
This position will work closely with staff in University Marketing and University Communications, including other editor/account managers, writers, web developers, designers, and photographers, and other campus communications professionals. The successful candidate will report to the director of Creative Services within University Marketing.
