Position Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for the oversight of the Carolina Union/Frank Porter Graham Student Union Building operations. Oversight includes programs, services and facility usage. The Operations Manager supervises and trains approximately 40 part-time student staff in the Operations department. The Operations Manager is responsible for event and meeting management, security and safety of building and event patrons from opening until closing. The Operations Manager is also responsible for fostering partnerships across the campus in relation to event and facility management practices. This position supervises one evening Assistant Operations Manager. This position works within the larger team of the Office of Event Services and communicates on a regular basis at meetings, in EMS, and via email regarding event support needs and updates. Oversees Operations Of The Frank Porter Graham Student Union: * Supervises student operations staff of 40 students at the Carolina Union; * Oversees set-ups and tear downs for meetings and events; * Serves as point of contact for building patrons and clients. Supervises Operations Student Supervisors and Student Staff: * Hires, trains, manages and disciplines student staffs of 40 who are responsible for building security, safety, and upkeep; * Develops, trains and assesses Operations Supervisors; Conducts bi-weekly staff meetings; * Maintains daily shift report for operations staff. Observes and Addresses Maintenance Issues: * Conducts daily inspections of the Carolina Union; * Reports maintenance and housekeeping issues; * Works with building staff to maintain building appearance and function. Customer Service and Management: * Participates in meetings with Event Services Team to advise on event and program operations; * Attends and contributes to Carolina Union full time staff meetings; * Informs full time staffs of both buildings of building schedules. * Interacts with co-workers and customers in a professional and friendly manner; * Responds promptly and effectively to client and staff needs during events and meetings. Assists In Preparation And Oversight Of Operations Budget For The Carolina Union: * Assists in preparation of yearly budget; * Oversees budget and scheduling of staff to remain within budget; * Meets monthly to review budget with supervisor. Coordination of Building Safety * Creates and communicates all Condition 3 action plans for the Carolina Union full time and student staff; * Oversees, implements and develops Carolina Union Emergency and Security procedures and regularly assesses and updates them accordingly; including training for student and full time staff.

Education Requirements:

Qualification and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
