Duties: The Director, Business Engagement reports directly to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO) in Wharton's Marketing and Communications Department, is a key member of the CCMO leadership team, and will recruit, lead, and develop a team of three project managers. Primary areas of responsibility include:

* Client Service and Marketing Strategy: brings strategic acumen to client marketing needs and serves as the primary client contact for all projects
* Project Management Coordination and Logistics: effectively and efficiently leads prioritization of all department work and plans necessary staffing; manages processes, schedules, budgets, and project quality
* Communication within the Team and with Stakeholders: ensures clear communication across project teams and stakeholder groups

The Director must develop and maintain high-level collaborative relationships internally and across the School and University. The ideal candidate is a strategically minded client service, project and program management expert, mentor, and advocate. The Director has mastered the ability to assess client business needs and think strategically to lead development and implementation of tactics/programs flawlessly. He/she possess a combination of skills including the ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions, resolve conflicts, and develop and manage the execution of strategy.

The Director will understand the Wharton Marketing and Communication's Department's work products and will lead teams delivering work for the six revenue-producing lines of business (LOBs) as well as other departments and centers of various sizes and marketing/comms needs at Wharton. He/she will work in close collaboration with the department Directors, including Events, Media Relations, Social Media, Creative Services, Marketing Technology and Business Administration, to deliver best-in-class marketing and communications solutions. He/she is a trusted partner able to lead internal and external teams to align on a mutual understanding of all deliverables and drive them to successful completion. The Director demonstrates the leadership and confidence required to move projects forward in a firm but respectful way.

He/she is able to make decisions which provide continuous justification towards the business case and ensure the project does not veer off track. The Director will actively support, direct and oversee assigned projects and team members for successful completion of the project.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferred in Marketing or Business Administration or related field; 10+ years applicable experience as an Account Manager or Client Facing Project Manager in an agency or client setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Superior client relationship and management skills

Exceptional organizational skills and obsessive attention to detail

Demonstrated experience of directing a variety of integrated projects, including branding, websites, social media, video, print, radio, emails, and digital advertising, as well as involvement in strategy and marketing/tactical plan development

Proven skill in managing multi-disciplinary teams, which may consist of strategists, community managers, analysts, designers, writers, developers, producers, technologists, public relations and social media experts, etc.

Exemplary teamwork skills and strong work ethic

Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines

Expert at project and program management

Solid understanding of project management methodology, including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk and develop detailed work plans and specifications

Familiarity with project management software/applications such as Basecamp, Microsoft Project, Harvest, Jira, Smartsheet, etc.

Prior experience managing external vendors and resources to assist with execution

Website build and site migration experience required
