Position Summary:

Incumbent is responsible for all management functions related to the delivery of patient care in the specialty area, which includes two procedure rooms and recovery room. Remains accountable for the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care, and assists in directing the activities of the staff in the area. Assists in leading, planning, controlling and evaluating nursing practices, regulatory compliance, and operations of procedures to include ordering of instruments and coordinating equipment / instruments. Provides patient care and is considered the clinical expert in circulating for procedures and post anesthesia care. Effectively applies nursing process to design, coordinate, and deliver care to meet the identified needs of patients having operative procedures.

Salary Range:

Rate Minimum $43.46 Midpoint $51.56 Maximum $59.66

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of three years of nursing experience in an acute care perioperative setting

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment

Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Current BLS and ACLS certification

Current California RN license

Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques

Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills

Experience and competency in working with patients under conscious sedation

Experience in circulating and monitoring for patients in plastic surgery procedures

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
