Academic Administrator, OID (JPF04178)
With the direction and supervision of the Director of Academic and Research Programs in the Academic Advancement Program (AAP), the Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating the administrative and daily functions of direct student services offered in Graduate Mentoring and Research Programs (GMRP). The Assistant Director is the primary manager and advisor of Graduate Mentoring and Research Programs, and cohort-based research programs (i.e., Arts Initiative, Community Development and Social Justice, Educators for Tomorrow, High Achievement in Math and Science, Research Rookies, and UndocuBruins Research Programs). The Assistant Director also works with faculty and the Director to organize and execute events and programming that supports academic and research experiences for AAP students that facilitate collaborative learning, academic success, graduation, and preparation for graduate and professional school. The Assistant Director will teach in the Honors Collegium and Summer Sessions. The Assistant Director will contribute to professional publications, evaluate AAP programs and services, and look for new funding opportunities for research and evaluation. Some grant writing and program assessment experience is preferred. A doctoral degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences is essential.
The Graduate Mentoring and Research Programs provide research-oriented academic preparation across fields to students, and graduate and professional school mentoring. The Academic Advancement Program is part of the Division of Undergraduate Education and is committed to access, equity, and excellence. Built on principles of social justice, AAP has a threefold mission: 1) to advocate and facilitate the access, academic success, and graduation of students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education; 2) inform and prepare students for graduate and professional schools; and 3) to develop the academic, scientific, political, economic, and community leadership necessary to transform society.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position salary range is $60,304 to $64,668/year.
Position remains open until filled. This is a full-time (100% time) position, with a projected February 2019 start date.
