The College of Science and Engineering invites applications for a non-tenure track Professional Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences. Professional Assistant Professors are full time teaching faculty with the potential for promotion to the rank of professional associate and professional professor positions. The position will begin in the fall 2019 semester.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and possibly Master's level courses and laboratories. While there are no research expectations for this position, research opportunities with undergraduate students may exist for motivated individuals. This is especially true if that research is cross-disciplinary in nature and can integrate well into our College's growing engineering program.

The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (PENS) of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an interdisciplinary department that offers undergraduate degrees in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Atmospheric Science, and Physics. We also offer a PhD in Coastal and Marine System Sciences, and master's degrees in Environmental Science, Coastal and Marine System Science and will soon be offering a master's degree in Chemistry. With the physical sciences as our core, we seek to bridge academics and research through interdisciplinary collaboration that exists both in the classroom and in the field. We seek for our students at every level to grasp the real-life applicability of their research and its wide-spread impacts on environment and sustainability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • At least 18 hours of graduate level chemistry courses.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of teaching General Chemistry lectures and labs as well as Inorganic Chemistry lectures as an Assistant Professor or higher.
