Instructional Designer

Job description

Provides support to instructors in design and redesign of online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses incorporating proven and emerging pedagogies (high-impact practices, new technologies, and other learning-centered strategies); and course facilitation through workshops and consultations.

  • Provides confidential and formative consultations with educators on a wide variety of pedagogical issues for the purpose of improving courses by integrating research-based practices
  • Supports faculty in implementing engaging, research-based activities in online, hybrid, and face to face courses to support student success

  • Awareness of accessibility considerations for web content
  • Web design skills
  • Awareness of copyright considerations for web content
  • Knowledge of the Quality Matters rubric and process
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in educational technology
  • Knowledge of foundational learning science, pedagogical, and instructional design research
  • Experience with Learning Management systems (e.g., Desire2Learn)
  • Experience with synchronous web tools (e.g., Blackboard Collaborate)
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Able to deal with multiple tasks or projects at one time
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette

Two (2) years’ experience in a higher education teaching and learning or technology center, or corporate training
