The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a full-time, general faculty (non-tenure) in our Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) group. The position will begin Fall 2019, and the faculty member is expected to teach courses in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as engaging in relevant service activities. The incumbent reports to the Director of the Galant Center for I&E as a member of a team tasked with serving the exploding interest in I&E across Grounds. The faculty member is expected to undertake a full teaching schedule while participating in co-curricular activities including events, competitions, and team mentoring.
Applicants must possess an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred, but Master's degree considered) combined with significant experience in starting, managing, and/or advising new and innovative businesses in a commercial or academic environment. Previous experience as a faculty member at an AACSB accredited institution, evidence of excellence in teaching entrepreneurship, innovation, and/or related courses, and demonstrated thought leadership in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation are required.
Founded in 2008 through initial funding from Mark E. Galant (McIntire '80), The Galant Center for I&E is dedicated to advancing the study and practice of I&E. Through the Center, McIntire develops innovative curricula, engages in significant research, and executes meaningful events that bring innovators, entrepreneurs, and students together. Experiential learning is an important element of the Center's approach. Through Center-sponsored activities, students are exposed to and work with business leaders to convey both the challenges and opportunities that confront new business ventures and corporate innovators. In sum, the Center seeks to develop and disseminate best practices and latest thinking in the area of I&E.
