Additional Information Purpose Serve as the department insurance contracting, revenue analysis and fee schedule specialist with knowledge and applications of medical billing for services provided at University Health Services (UHS) and Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC). Provides cost center analysis and projections. Essential Functions Negotiates contracts with Insurance Companies for all services provided by UHS and CMHC. This could include contracting with other vendors to ensure good pricing and terms for medical equipment and supplies and services along with support from the Materials Management Manager. This includes notifying managers when contracts are up for renewal. Responsible for keeping records of all UHS and CMHC contract files and available to both entities and notifying Student Affairs as appropriate. Responsible for annual billing code additions, deletions, or modifications to update coding dictionary. Participates in billing and coding audit process. Participates in Coding and Charges Committee to assist with process improvements and optimize reimbursements. Performs reimbursement analysis to ensure payments are consistent with negotiated contract rates and benefits. This includes revenue from secondary payer claims. Works with Finance Managers to provide cost center and revenue analysis for medical and mental health provider areas and develops Excel and Tableau reports as needed (e.g. A/R aging reports, billing reports, etc.). May assist with Cashier/Insurance Manager in monitoring the revenue cycle to include: accurate, compliant and timely submission of insurance claims to provide accurate and efficient reimbursement; manages the Coding and Charges committee and audits; analyzes monthly receivables performance; initiate and manages collection efforts; assist with the planning of short-term and long-range strategic planning. Understands and complies with all applicable UHS and UT policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal laws. Reports any irregularities or violations to the department manager. Stays informed of updates to relevant policies, procedures, and laws. Communicates applicable policies, procedures, laws, and updates to Pharmacy cashiers and other department staff as needed. Exhibits exceptional customer service, professionalism, and teamwork in all aspects of work. Participates in other activities as appropriate and assigned. Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern. Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Five years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting and financial analysis. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Coding certificate from AAPC or AHIMA. Two years of experience in ambulatory family practice care setting medical coding, credentialing, insurance contracting, billing, and payment posting with electronic health records and electronic medical claims submissions. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Tableau. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
