Description:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid-Customer Service, the Enrollment Services Advocate has the primary responsibility for processing and determining student eligibility for financial aid. The Associate also evaluates financial aid applications for eligibility and determines aid package while ensuring institution is compliant with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide face-to-face and external financial aid counseling to students and parents.
  • Review and accept documents submitted.
  • Respond to correspondence (phone calls, e-mails, etc.) in a timely manner as prescribed by the Director or Assistant Director.
  • Share responsibility of responding to Call Center tickets or office emails.
  • Serve as a trainer for financial aid related inquires and act as point of contact as needed.
  • Process HOPE/Zell Miller eligibility for incoming,continuing and transfer students. Notify students of eligibility.
  • Responsible for assisting students with researching other avenues for funding. This is specifically related to students who owe balances or have extenuating financial circumstances. Makes recommendations for Beacon, United Way and other emergency funding to the Assistant or Associate Director.
  • Participates in student outreach programs and initiatives offered by the office, GGC or others in the community. Makes recommendations for potential outreach activities. Assists in the preparation of programs. Conducts financial aid presentations on and off campus, including high schools.
  • Serves on campus committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned




Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate complex ideas to various audiences.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and a desire to improve the student experience.
  • Must have effective task and time management abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines is critical.
  • Must have proven strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment where input from all is expected.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Financial aid experience in a higher education environment, with knowledge of rules and regulations as they pertain to Federal Title IV and State funding, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Banner, NSLDS, CPS, SQL and BDM, strongly preferred.
  • NASFAA Credentials desired.

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing.
