Job Information

Job Summary:

The Director of Client Services' primary responsibility is to improve and maintain high subscriber satisfaction and retention, and to provide input on the quality of our data, services, and new product directions. This role is focused on the research products area of CRSP, and has engagement on the index side as appropriate and needed. This role is outwardly focused and leverages quantitative and technical knowledge and background with strong communications skills. The Director of Client Services reports directly to the Senior Director – Research Products Group, is a member of the management team, and collaborates closely with all externally facing staff and with departments across the organization.


  • Supervise client relationship team members within the Client Services Group. Support professional growth and career development of team members and other CRSP staff members, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with licensing and subscriptions roles in pre- and post-sales efforts.
  • Coordinate implementation of beta releases of software and data; manage relationships with subscribers participating in these beta releases.
  • Shares management of partner relationships with Senior Director – Research Products Group – primarily with our research data redistributors. This role initiates interaction for the development of software, new data products, and documentation/support materials that promote correct and enhanced usage of our data through distribution platforms.
  • Collaborate with the COO and the Senior Director Research Products Group in the preparation and final review of technical documentation and external presentation materials for the COO, which requires an in-depth understanding of terminology and research data and Investible Index analytics.
  • Provide feedback to CRSP departments based on client input through various channels.
  • Provide strategic input for creation of client-based events.
  • Collaborate to develop materials for training and CRSP product/ tools education for both internal and external use, such as query libraries and tutorials.
  • Provide input and ideas for external collateral including but not limited to: user documentation and guides, release notes, and routine technical communications to subscribers.
  • Collaborate with relevant parties across departments in developing content to ensure that information is shared completely and efficiently.
  • Leverage knowledge of the academic and research communities in a collaborative effort to most effectively serve and grow the CRSP subscriber base.
  • Participate as a member of the CRSP management team, collaborating to ensure the effective and orderly operation of the organization. Consult with and support management team regarding organization-wide communications.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with subordinates, staff members, and customers/users, ensuring that a productive and professional environment is created in all areas of work.
  • Effectively direct area(s) of responsibility, by motivating, training, and developing a diverse group of staff members to provide desired strategic and operational outcomes within the allocated resources.
  • Utilize effective human resources management techniques and skills, elevate sensitive issues to appropriate parties as warranted.

Additional Requirements

Education, Experience or Certifications:

  • Advanced degree is required, PhD preferred.

  • At least seven years of relevant professional experience required
  • Experience within financial services and higher education preferred.
  • Experience managing a team and strong ability to coach others required. Advanced education and certifications in related areas highly preferred.
  • Experience with financial data, calculations and terminology, an understanding of the concepts related to large data sets, and Investible Index methodology and analytics is required.
  • Experience in participating in product development and marketing support in a financial information environment required.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work with quantitative and query tools preferred such as SAS, SQL.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office, client relationship software, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and master new technical skills.
  • Specific knowledge of and experience in the academic research community and financial data marketplace preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate within and across teams required.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong problem solving and organizational skills required.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
