The College of Motion Picture Arts at Florida State University invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Teaching Faculty I. This is a 12-month, non-tenure earning position, responsible for teaching coursework in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Production/Animation program and the Master of Fine Arts Production program.
The successful candidate will be able to develop curricula and teach courses in picture editing. Typical responsibilities include: teaching 1-2 courses per semester; mentoring and advising students; and, contributing to curriculum/program development, including serving on committees, researching industry trends, and advising on classroom facilities, tools, and technology.
Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in picture editing, filmmaking, or media studies, or a record of exceptional professional experience as demonstrated by portfolio, curriculum vita, and/or motion picture, television, or commercial credits.
A history of professional picture editing experience in narrative, feature, and/or television.
Excellent communication and teaching skills.
Practicing artist or educator within the field of picture editing for features, shorts, narratives, episodic television, and/or animation.
3+ years of professional industry experience.
3+ years of full-time teaching experience.
