Princeton University Library seeks a creative, energetic, collaborative, and service-oriented professional to provide innovative reference and research services for Princeton students, faculty, and visiting scholars. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team of three Research Services Librarians. Together they design, implement and develop the Library's Research Services Program offering innovative services for all Princeton patrons, and with a focus on undergraduate students. They collaborate in the development of a research and public services onboarding program for new librarians and staff. This position works closely with subject specialists, academic department and program liaisons, public services librarians and specialized staff throughout the Library system, and with steering committees and synergy groups to ensure that the Library's reference and research services are well understood and communicated and that they meet current and future teaching and research needs. Represents Princeton in relevant regional, national and international professional and scholarly organizations. The position reports within the Scholarly Collections and Research Services Department. This position: *Designs and implements innovative reference services for the Firestone Library Information Desk. *Manages the General Reference acquisitions fund; develops reference collections working closely with subject selectors; oversees the Trustee Reading Room Reference Collection. *Coordinates and participates in the Library's email reference service; participates in Chat reference. *Participates as a permanent member of the Library's Public Services Steering Committee *Working with a small team of librarians and staff, coordinates the Library's outreach events, including Open Houses, general orientations and tours. *Participates in the Library's teaching program for the Princeton Freshman Writing Program and in the Personal Librarian Program for undergraduate students. Princeton University Library is one of the world's leading research libraries. It employs a dedicated and knowledgeable staff of more than 300 professional and support staff working in a large central library, 9 specialized branches, and 3 storage facilities. The Library supports a diverse community of 5,200 undergraduates, 2,700 graduate students, 1,200 faculty members, and many visiting scholars. Holdings include more than 7 million printed volumes, 5 million manuscripts, 2 million non-print items, and extensive collections of digital text, data, and images. See: Required Qualifications: *An ALA-accredited Master's degree in library/information science. *Minimum 3 years professional experience relevant to reference or research services in an academic or research library. *Broad familiarity with academic research. *Strong experience with general research databases and sources. *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully and collegially with a diverse group of colleagues, scholars, and students. *Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. *Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a strong service-oriented environment. *Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment. Strongly Preferred: *Second Master's degree. *Experience teaching research strategies and tools, and conducting research consultations in an academic setting. *Successful coordination or project management experience. *Comfort with content management systems, bibliographic management software, and other library-related technologies. The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate Librarian rank depending upon qualifications and experience.
