Assistant Professor - Medical Image Analytics and Surgical Planning

Job description

The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of research related to medical image analytics with a focus on cardiac imaging and on developing approaches for planning cardiac surgery and related interventions. Responsibilities include developing and leading an independent research program in medical image analytics with a focus on cardiac imaging and surgical planning. Candidates must have outstanding research qualifications with demonstrated ability to develop and carry out an independent research program and potential for obtaining extramural funding. Teaching in topics related to imaging and image analytics, as well as mentoring of trainees at all levels, is expected. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research.

The University of Pennsylvania is a leading biomedical research institution and provides an outstanding environment for imaging and image analytics research. The Department of Radiology has a leading program in image analytics and close ties to related research programs including Bioengineering, Cardiac Surgery, and Cardiology. The Department has an excellent infrastructure infrastructure for image analytics research – including a newly installed compute cluster dedicated to image analytics – and for relevant areas imaging, including expertise in ultrasound, cardiac MR, and cardiac CT.
