The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, is seeking applicants for a full-time Research Instructor position in the laboratory of Dr. Boris Tabakoff. The focus of the research support by funding from NIH is the creation and use of a whole transcriptome directory for several organs of a genetically diverse 96 strain panel of rats. The position requires an excellent knowledge of RNA-Seq data acquisition and analysis, including transcriptome reconstruction and quantitation. The individual must have a good understanding of quantitative genetic data analysis techniques and be able to work comfortably in a group of bio-statisticians and informaticians to develop pipeline for data analysis and the display of data and analysis information on our website, https://phenogen.ucdenver.edu. Bench research involves the isolation of DNA and RNA and measurement of RNA levels and annotation using methods including microarray analysis, RNA- and DNA-Seq, ChIP and methylation assays. Specific duties include performance of the assays above, as well as assistance with day-to-day operations of the laboratory including quality assurance/quality control, bench chemistry, and analytical methodologies, as well as laboratory management tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:



The minimum qualification is a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field with knowledge and experience in both molecular biology (RNA-related) and quantitative genetics. In addition, candidates must have two years of postdoctoral experience in global "omic" (e.g. RNA-Seq) generation and analysis.
