Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent or higher) in Informatics, Social Sciences, Public Health or a related field and three (3) years of full-time experience performing data-management and/or informatics work OR Master's Degree in Informatics, Social Sciences, Public Health or related field and one year of full time experience performing data-management and/or informatics work. Supervisory experience. Experience with a variety of data management software, statistical packages, survey administration platforms (e.g. Microsoft Access, SPSS, Qualtrics, RedCap), and electronic medical record systems and other health data analysis systems. Background in reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent or higher) in a related field. Additional years as a supervisor or manager. Additional work experience in informatics field and quality initiatives within a healthcare setting. Strong management and organizational skills. Expertise with data management software, statistical packages and survey administrative platforms. Familiarity with GE Centricity EMR (Cerner). Familiarity with the WTC Health Program and its mission.

Brief Description of Duties: The Informatics Project Supervisor will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination of the WTC Health Programs efforts to improve integrity and flow of data, enhance patient care and operations, and generate insights on the patients’ physical and mental health by implementing health informatics-based solutions. S/he will report to the Administration Director and will work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and other managers to identify, define, and prioritize informatics projects aimed at improving efficiency and to meet auditing and reporting mandates. S/he will oversee the Informatic teams daily tasks and projects. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and analytic skills. S/he should be a self-starter, organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects in an efficient manner.
  • Plan, develop, and implement informatics projects: assess team resources, assign projects to staff, and monitor projects through all phases to completion.
  • Research solutions, liaison with other Stony Brook departments, coordinate and lead team meetings, and communicate progress to management.
  • Meet regularly with managers to ensure informatics solutions meet operational needs.
  • Direct informatics staff through entire process: initial assignment, early development, testing, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Analyze workflows to identify problems and/or inefficiencies and provide expertise to administrative team to aid in the development of informatics-based solutions. Review existing databases, spreadsheets, and other forms of data (paper) to identify better ways to manage data flow and analysis.
  • Assess optimization and improvement needs for EMR and its interface with the WTC Health Program and other database systems, with the goal to improve clinical workflow and communication with patient population. This will include implementing the regular use of the patient portal to replace other communication modes.
  • Program reports and queries and manipulate, validate and analyze data to provide accurate metrics to management for assessing quality, efficiency and productivity. Ensure high-quality datasets: review datasets for completeness, accuracy and clarity before analysis and dissemination. Perform statistical analyses and write summary of findings.
  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
