Position Description: Provides leadership and oversight to the College of Education (COE) Student Advising office; develops, implements, and assesses academic advising goals in conjunction with COE academic advisors, administrative staff, and Associate Dean; hires, supervises, and evaluates professional advising and administrative staff; plans, directs and evaluates a comprehensive and transformative academic advisement program; maintains an advising load and works directly with students to accomplish educational goals; collaborates with other university departments to enhance retention and student success initiatives; develops knowledge and expertise about the undergraduate majors in COE (Athletic Training, Early Childhood, Elementary, Health Promotion, Leisure, Youth, and Human Services, Middle Level Education, Movement & Exercise Science, and Physical Education); and develops a comprehensive, strategic advising plan to include retention, recruitment, student development and partnerships.
Education Requirements: Master's degree in college student personnel or related field required.
Required Qualification: At least five years of experience in the education profession with demonstrated success in advising or related student success initiatives and leadership experience; commitment to diversity and experience working with underserved populations; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to develop productive working relationships with persons at all organizational levels; ability to maintain confidentiality and contribute to fostering a harmonious team environment; and computer proficiency required.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience in higher education academic advising and familiarity with the NACADA framework and its core competencies preferred.
