Job Description

The Department of Arts and Humanities seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2019. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of History; the specialization sought is Medieval Europe, broadly construed. The base teaching load is a 3/3, and constitutes a combination of lower-division World Civilization and upper-level classes in areas of specialization. The College seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate degree in History or very closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD will be accepted if ALL the requirements for the Ph.D. degree are completed before August 10, 2019.
  • A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in History.
  • Broad training in History with particular expertise in Medieval European history.
  • Evidence of scholarly achievement commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, culturally diverse student body.
  • Familiarity with high-impact educational practices such as cooperative education, service learning, and undergraduate research.
  • Experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios.
