Assistant Director of Web Services and Mobile Development

Job description

This position ensures the ongoing development, implementation, and enhancement of the university’s primary content management system. This position oversees and manages team members in the design, development, implementation, testing and ongoing support of existing and new websites, web-based applications and mobile initiatives.

  1. Assisting the Director of Web Services in the architecture and strategy of the university’s content management system
  2. Overseeing the development, documentation, support, and maintenance of websites and site management tools
  3. Mentoring, managing, leading a team of web developers responsible for the design, development, and testing of the university’s primary content management system and systems integration.
  4. Overseeing the development, documentation, support, and maintenance of the university’s primary mobile app
  5. Establishing and maintaining a high-level of programming and development standards and practices
  6. Managing the workflow of web-related development projects
  7. Ensuring the university’s website is optimized for search engines and meeting the highest standards of accessibility
  8. Analyzing and reporting on web traffic statistics
  9. Collaborating with colleagues, site owners, and others to ensure usefulness, quality, and integrity of projects
  10. Training clients on use and administration of new web applications or sites
  11. Working closely with KSU Information Security to ensure development and security standards are met

  • In-depth knowledge in designing web and mobile strategies to meet institutional goals

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with content management systems
  • In-depth knowledge in designing and developing mobile applications (iOS, Android)
  • Expert-level ability in coding, editing, and troubleshooting websites and web-based applications using HTML, PHP and CSS
  • Expert-level ability of how to create, connect, read, and write to databases
  • Expert-level ability in leveraging third-party APIs to build custom applets
  • Understanding of web server architecture and database schemas
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong relationships with cross-functional teams at all levels
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong time management and problem-solving capabilities
  • 6 years of IT / business experience OR 2 years of leadership and management experience

  • Master’s in IT, Business or related field
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience in designing and developing an enterprise-wide content management system
