Overview

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology seeks a faculty assistant to provide administrative support to 3-4 faculty members in their academic, teaching and research efforts. The position will also support the respective research groups and various departmental programs.

The faculty assistant will be responsible for supporting faculty with all administrative duties, especially planning and organizing travel and schedules, supporting grant proposal process, assisting in academic and teaching duties, and preparing necessary correspondence.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include: Manage multiple faculty calendars, schedule appointments and meetings; make international and domestic travel arrangements for faculty and their lab group members; update faculty materials such as CV, biosketch, publications, course materials, etc.; provide support on research publications, manuscripts, and bibliographies; manage course information in Blackboard; assist in preparation of grant proposal and grant report materials; provide editorial support in creating figures, graphs, tables; prepare purchase requests, travel reimbursements, process invoices and credit card transactions; maintain webpage content; provide assistance to research groups.

Additional support will include assistance in logistics and announcements of seminars and special events, and provide support to international field operations and field semester program, including coordination of visa requests, international travel arrangements, and all research and program logistics.

Assist in special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree is desired; at least three years of experience in a relevant academic or business position is required; knowledge of Princeton University policies, procedures and systems is a plus.

Essential qualities include excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and to exercise discretion in obtaining and providing factual and confidential information. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) required. Strong computing skills in MSWord and email management are essential. Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and Acrobat is helpful. Experience in both Mac and PC systems are preferred.
