The Xenon MRI Shared Resource(https://sites.duke.edu/driehuyslab/) at Duke University is recruiting a Operator/Data Analyst to support magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research using hyperpolarizedxenon.
Our team is developing this technology as a novel means of imaging lung in both patients and animal models of pulmonary disease.
Hyperpolarization is a laserbased process that enhances MRI signal of xenon gas by a factor of 100,000 to allow for highresolution, noninvasive MRI of pulmonary disease.
The person in this position will operate and maintain the devices that generate the hyperpolarized gas as well as to support the image analysis.
Operate polarizers and associated equipment
Follow standard operating procedures
Record and track key data for quality assurance
Assist with maintenance and minor repairs of equipment
Transfer, archive, process and analyze imaging data from MRI Studies Develop and participate in additional research projects as schedule permits
Ensure compliance with applicable safety and efficacy requirements
Completed a BS or similar degree in physical sciences or engineering (preferably biomedical, mechanical, electrical or computer.)
Qualified applicants should have demonstrated hands-on technical capabilities, and experience operating various types of scientific or manufacturing equipment.
Optionally prior experience with lasers or vacuum and gas handling technology may be beneficial.

Work requires a thorough knowledge of the principles of engineering and related natural sciences acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program in an Engineering science or a related natural science such as Physics or Chemistry.
