Assoc. Professor/Director of the Web Handling Research Center (WHRC)
Job Summary: The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in solid mechanics and dynamics area at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Versatile candidates with command of the fields of elastic and inelastic mechanics, dynamic and transient behavior, instability, simulation methods and mechanics of advanced materials are sought. Candidates must be willing to commit their research to advanced manufacturing, specifically to roll-to-roll handling and processing methods. Candidates that can demonstrate past experience in R2R manufacturing are preferred.
The successful candidate will assume the title of Director of the Web Handling Research Center at Oklahoma State University, an NSF IUCRC research center in operation since 1986. They will be expected to oversee and conduct research, organize and support industrial advisory board meetings, outreach seminars and international conferences. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty and provide them opportunities to support their research interests through R2R manufacturing. The candidate will also be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program which benefits from existing WHRC laboratories and faculty expertise. Research program development might include expansion of the WHRC or development of a new center that could benefit from the WHRC. The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
An earned Ph.D. in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required. Evidence of past development of successful research programs is required. Salary and other compensation are competitive with major research institutions.
