Accounting Specialist NWRDC/UBA

This position is located at the Northwest Regional Data Center.
Responsible for performing highly specialized professional accounting work for UBA Fiscal Operations section within Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC). Ensures University compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations by auditing, analyzing, verifying, and performing complex financial reconciliations. Prepares routine and ad hoc financial and operations reports. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and resolves discrepancies. Assists with the development of annual budgets and financial projections.
Processes NWRDC customer billing on scheduled and/or ad hoc basis. Communicates with customers regarding their invoices and works closely with NWRDC administrative staff to assist with and resolve financial and/or billing questions. Works with other UBA Fiscal Operations ITS/NWRDC staff to resolve billing issues with vendors.
Monitors the business activities for NWRDC through maintenance and control of financial records. Provides for good administrative controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Provides financial projections, cost/budgetary reviews, and recommendations that have a significant impact on NWRDC's operations. Recommends, interprets, and implements fiscal and accounting administrative policies and procedures.
Serves as NWRDC's Concur travel representative.
Ensures standardized policies and procedures for this position are documented and updated. Assists with other business plan development that affects the organization as requested.
Bachelor's degree and two years experience or a high school diploma or equivalency and six years of experience.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
Experience using applicable computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as a strong understanding of basic computer functions.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Experience using electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP).
Anticipated Salary Range
Commensurate with experience.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
