Primary Function of Organization Unit: The NC State Veterinary Hospital (VH), established in 1983, is one of the highest rated veterinary academic medical centers in the country, serving communities throughout North Carolina as well as many other states. The hospital staffs over twenty clinical services with board certified specialists that are nationally and even internationally renowned, ensuring the VH is on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Patients benefit from the combined expertise of multiple specialists utilizing a team approach to patient healthcare. Each year, nearly 25,000 patients are treated in the VH. The VH provides compassionate care, state of the art specialty health care, and expert clinical instruction for 4th-year veterinary students from College of Veterinary Medicine, and ongoing investigation of innovative techniques and procedures to further advance the field of veterinary medicine.

Essential Job Duties: This employee will serve as the primary Client Service Representative for the Veterinary Hospital Pharmacy. The chief responsibilities of this position are as follows: - Accurately and promptly process client transactions, including investigating and resolving questions and difficulties. - Answer incoming phone calls to Pharmacy and resolve requests or direct to appropriate Pharmacy or VH team member. - Receive client requests for prescriptions, food, and other orders. Submit requests to appropriate staff member in a timely manner. - Coordinate and follow-up on outstanding requests with Veterinary Hospital staff across multiple departments. - Prepare and process outgoing FedEx shipments daily. - Provide excellent internal and external customer service at all times. - Process and store returned pet food. - Responsibly and accurately count and monitor Pharmacy cash drawer. - Process client transactions. - Assist with Pharmacy Research & Teaching Requests. - Complete other associated tasks as assigned by management.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: * Excellent client service, including complex problem solving, managing expectations, and excellent written and verbal communication. * Excellent attention to detail and administrative skills, including the ability to follow up and resolve outstanding issues and problems. * Experience with Microsoft Office and other office computer resources, including email, voicemail, and other web-based forms and communication platforms. * Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly. * Previous client service experience in a veterinary or medical setting required.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Associate's Degree or similar, one year of client service and administrative experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. * Previous cashier and/or cash-handling experience. * Previous pharmacy experience preferred (i.e. Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Receptionist/Cashier). * Experience with UVIS or other Veterinary Hospital computing platforms. * Experience with veterinary medicine and/or veterinary client service.
