Operating Room Assistant/UKHC

Job description



Assists nursing team and performs the following duties: opens sterile supplies; holds instruments and extremities; handles equipment and supplies with aseptic technique; runs errands; obtains supplies and blood/pharmacy products; efficiently communicates; maintains patient confidentiality; transports patients by bed, wheelchair, and/or stretcher; involves pushing, pulling, and lifting patients and objects up to and over 100 pounds; ensures patient ID badge is correct and secures patient belongings; performs OR turnover duties, including cleaning OR tables, mopping floors, and changing trash and linens; and assists with inventory counts.

Physical Requirements

The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis, as well as stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.



Shift

May include day, evening, and night shifts; will also require some weekend, holiday, and/or on-call shifts.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to follow directions; excellent organization skills; great attention to detail; a customer-focused attitude; and exceptional communication skills.
