ASSOC DIR, PLANNED GIVING, DUKE HEALTH DEVELOPMENT
Medical Center Development
Responsible for working collaboratively with development officers across Duke Health to identify, cultivate, solicit, andsteward alumni and friends of the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and grateful patients of DukeUniversity Health System. The Associate Director of Gift Planning will report to theSenior Executive Director of Gift and Endowment Planning.
Prospect Strategy- 75%
Partnering with development officers across Duke Health, serve as a philanthropic planning advisor to School of Medicine and School of Nursing alumni and friends, and grateful patients of Duke University Health System. Produce and/or provide assistance with draft endowments, calculations,proposals, endowment agreements, and other necessary materials as needed by prospects, donors, and advisors. Partner with annual fund and Schools of Medicine and Nursing colleagues on comprehensive reunion efforts and serve as the gift planning representative for volunteer conference calls and meetings. Assist with the production of gift planning publications by developing content, reviewing content produced by the University gift planning office and Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs Communications Team, and writing articles on topics of current interest for the University gift planning blog. Assist with handling probate, gift designations, and tax matters related to realized planned gifts to Duke Health; help to insure compliance with applicable regulations and university policies. Develop and maintain a small portfolio of prospects and donors.
Staff and Advisory Board Education- 15%
Provide educational programming for development staff of Duke Healthand for its volunteer advisory boards.
Counsel for ComplexOutright and Endowment Agreements- 10%
Serve as an in-house resource for drafting complex gift and endowment agreements, in partnership with individual development officers of Duke Health and the Associate Director of Donor Relations, and consulting with Duke's Development and Legal Counsel as needed. Other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/TRAINING - Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Strongly prefer JD, Certified Financial Planner, CPA or advanced degree in business, finance, or related field.
EXPERIENCE - Work requires seven years of experience in the legal or accounting field, alumni affairs, public relations, fund raising, sales and promotions, marketing or related field in order to acquire skills necessary to develop and coordinate charitable gift plans to promote planned gifts to University by alumni, faculty and friends. Experience in academic medical center is a plus.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
