BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST
Duties: The Business Systems Analyst reports to the NGSS Functional Team Lead, and serves in a key role for development and support of student administrative systems in a dynamic project environment. The Next Generation of Student Systems (NGSS) project team is currently developing Pennant which uses
Banner from Ellucian as the foundation and will have a number of bolt-on applications to support Penn's unique business requirements. This person functions as an analyst within the functional business area and assists in directing key project resources, planning and decision-making activities, in order to facilitate optimal systems development and operational support. The position involves direct participation in project activities as part of the functional project team, in terms of supplying both a business/operational perspective, as well as technical and hands-on expertise, to ensure that project deliverables are timely and integrate effectively with other established SRFS business practices. This is a 3-Year Term position.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
7-10 years' experience strongly preferred, in systems analysis and support for high-volume administrative production systems, including web-delivered services in a dynamic service-oriented environment; At least 5 years of progressive responsibility managing resources and providing hands-on coverage, with proven ability to manage a team, inspire teamwork, delegate tasks, involve users and resolve issues;
Strong background in systems development, scheduling, support and administration; Proven ability to lead a project team, inspire teamwork, involve users, delegate tasks, resolve issues, handle multiple concurrent activities and manage competing schedules to meet deadlines;
Experience using analytical/reporting tools such as Business Objects or SQL to query Oracle databases and maintain rules; Experience using MS-Office, Visio and project management/tracking tools, such as MS-Project & Jira; Results-oriented, self-motivated, well-organized and able to work independently, as well as on project teams; Ability to interact collaboratively and effectively with other team members, management, vendor representatives and various other levels of constituents across the organization; Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred: Familiarity with Ellucian's Banner Student Suite (Student, AR and Financial Aid); Direct experience in a university environment supporting student administrative systems; Familiarity with mainframe data processing techniques and concepts, including TSO and IBM JCL.
