IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST B
Duties: The IT Support Specialist (B) provides computing support to faculty and staff in the departments of Music and Art History. Important functions include deploying and managing computers, ensuring the security of systems, and consulting on technological questions. The position works with Public Computing, participating in support for public computers in classrooms and labs, including developing and deploying disc images and responding to problem reports. It also works with SAS Computing's Director of Instructional Technology to provide advanced consulting for A/V systems in conference rooms and classrooms, including high-level repairs and the design of new systems.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience providing IT services in a professional environment or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience strongly preferred. Prior work experience in an academic environment preferred. Expertise supporting both Windows and Macintosh operating systems in a managed environment is required, including experience managing large numbers of computers through Microsoft Active Directory. Experience with audio-visual systems, video conferencing and mobile device management highly desired. Strong customer service and organizational skills, the ability to coordinate effectively in a large organization, proven written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience preparing documentation and providing training to users are highly desirable.
