Job Summary:

Working under the supervision of the Associate Director, Quality Assurance, the Senior Quality Assurance & Business Analyst's primary responsibility is delivering quality, well-tested solutions. Utilize a high degree of proficiency working with complex data and experience with industry standard Quality Assurance tools for test case development, test execution, and defect management. The Senior Quality Assurance & Business Analyst may also be called upon to collect, understand, model, and document all types of software system requirements on complex, longer-term, cross-departmental projects. Additional responsibilities may include developing detailed user specifications, business process models, use cases, user documentation, and training materials. The Senior Quality Assurance & Business Analyst is expected to work with a team and to work independently with equal proficiency. The Senior Quality Assurance & Business Analyst may be required to work with technical teams and project managers throughout the system development process as needed to meet project deadlines.


  • Analyze, understand, and clarify requirements, devise a test strategy to adequately cover the requirements, develop high-level test scenarios that implement the strategy, elaborate scenarios into detailed test cases.
  • Review test artifacts with QA and development team members and edit accordingly.
  • Own the QA role by consuming requirements, writing and executing tests (manual and automated), monitoring testing progress, reporting status, logging defects, tracking and testing defect fixes, choosing when and what to re-test, collaborating with team members, monitoring project progress, incorporating schedule and scope changes, shepherding the product to delivery, and assuming overall responsibility for quality of product.
  • Collaborate with the business and development teams to produce requirements that are well-documented and clear.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise for the systems under test and use that expertise to create, maintain, and extend the test case library.
  • Log, isolate, and document actions to replicate any issues or bugs discovered during testing.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance, promote and utilize best practices to ensure the completion of difficult assignments.
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Review requirements documented as stories in Agile Project Management software (e.g. Visual Studio Team Services, JIRA Agile) to ensure stories are ready for the next step in the development process.
  • Lead the effort to develop use cases and other types of documents that provide detail for complex requirements.
  • Facilitate various analysis and design meetings.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of business analysis, promotes and utilizes best practices to ensure the completion of difficult assignments.
  • In some cases, trains end users and serve as a resource for them after a new system release.
  • Serves as a mentor or resource for project teams.

Additional Requirements

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management or computer science required; a BA or BS degree in Finance or Business Information Systems preferred.

  • At least four years of overall quality assurance experience required.
  • At least one year of business analyst experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with developers, QA/QC analysts, project managers, end-users and product owners required.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, teamwork-oriented environment required.
  • Experience creating test plans, test cases, and test data required.
  • Moderate experience using SQL for testing and data verification preferred.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/document interviews, capture requirements and gain consensus required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with both business staff (e.g. end-users and project managers) and technical staff (e.g. developers and quality analysts) required.
  • Familiarity with financial data preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with the basic concepts of agile software development preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the lead role in expediting development and maintenance of business requirements and business rules required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication and inter-personal skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and users/partners, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to pay meticulous attention to detail required.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills required.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities required.
