Position Summary: The Senior Library Specialist--Technical Services interprets and applies the library policies as they relate to the Technical Services Department. The position's key responsibility in Technical Services is cataloging and classifying materials added to or withdrawn from the librarya€™s collection and serials maintenance. Original and copy cataloging are essential duties of the Senior Library Specialist, which require a working knowledge of the system. The position is multifunctional and requires problem solving of materials not already in the database. In addition, further responsibilities of the job require primary maintenance of bibliographic, authority holding, item records, re-cataloging of materials, updating MARC records to Resource, Description, Access (RDA), and checking in and claiming serials. The Senior Library Specialist--Technical Services provides support to library staff members on special projects from the standpoint of weeding, adding to the collection donated items, inventory projects, and public services. Most of the work is performed independently with the responsibility of providing monthly statistics to the Technical Servicea€™s Librarian of accomplished tasks. The Senior Library Specialist--Technical Services provides assistance to faculty, students, and other University Library users by staffing the Public Services desks. The minimum hourly rate is $15.80.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school graduation or equivalent. (Please attach a copy of your high school diploma or equivalent and/or a copy of your college/university transcripts). 2. Any combination totaling 2 years (24 months) from the following categories: (a) work experience in a library or equivalent setting (b) college course work in any field as measured by the following conversion table: a€¢ 30 semester hours equals six months a€¢ 60 semester hours or an Associatea€™s degree equals one year a€¢ 90 semester hours equals eighteen months a€¢ Bachelor Degree (120 semester hours) equals two years (24 months) a€¢ A Mastera€™s or higher degree equals four years (Note: Only a maximum of 4 years credit for college course work is available.) 3. A total of 2 years (24 months) work experience in a library or equivalent setting performing progressively more responsible work consistent with the next lower level of this series. 4. Demonstrated experience interpreting library policies, regulations, and standards. 5. Demonstrated experience in copy and original cataloging, as well as completing record and classification of catalogued materials.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's degree in Library Science with a concentration in Cataloging, Information Technology or Information Science. 2. Work experience in library cataloging and library information services.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position of 7.5 hours per day a total of 37.5 weekly. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with a 30 minute (unpaid) lunch.
