This position is assigned to the Career Education department at Folsom Lake College.

Assignment Responsibilities    

• Works with the Career Education (CE) Dean and faculty to serve as the point person for coordination and implementation of annual CE special events that may include, but are not limited to: Internship & Job Fair, Conversations with the Pros, etc. 

• Provides outreach to local employers to expand in-discipline work experience internship and job opportunities. 

• Provides classroom presentations at Folsom Lake College and its centers to increase awareness of work-based learning opportunities and create in-house opportunities. 

• Facilitates career readiness workshops. 

• Meets with students individually to assist with internship preparation, application, and placement. 

• Works cooperatively with with and refers students to the Career Transfer Center and jobs developer to assist with job readiness and placement. 

• Tracks and maintains accurate records for the Cooperative Work Experience Program using spreadsheets. 

• Approve and release internships on district-wide career search platform. 

• Attends appropriate conferences.

• Other duties as assigned by the Career Education Dean.

 

Minimum Qualifications    

EXPERIENCE: One year of experience conducting work-based learning activities in secondary or post-secondary educational settings. NOTE: An additional year of higher education may be substituted for the one year experience requirement.

 

EDUCATION: Completion of a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in counseling, social sciences, business, or a related field.

 

Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

 

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: 15 units are equal to six months of education; 30 units are equal to one year of education.)
