Senior Care Manager
Position Description: Provides comprehensive case management for students experience varying levels of crisis and concern, including but not limited to academic, personal, financial, mental and physical health, and family issues. Maintains an ongoing caseload, providing direct client services including initial assessment, follow up care, referring to community services, case management, short term/triage counseling and crisis intervention. Serves as part of the University CARE team. Provides programs and outreach to advance the education of the campus community regarding the CARE Team, CARE Action Plans, and encouraging civility and ethical development. Administers the CARE Team budget. Supervises assigned staff and graduate assistants. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field. Three to five years’ experience in a counseling, advocacy or social work setting. Experience working with a diverse population. Skill in basic counseling to include recognition of indicative behavioral distress signals. Knowledge of college student development theory and understanding of the needs of diverse college student subpopulations. Knowledge of risk factors and current trends in student support services. Skill in partnership building with students, internal and external community resources. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. PC proficiency, including word processing and database software.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous professional experience providing services to students, parents, faculty and staff in a higher education setting. Demonstrated experience working on a behavior intervention team, including crisis and distress response, developmental and psychosocial needs assessment, facilitating appropriate referrals and case management. Experience initiating multidisciplinary behavioral interventions. Demonstrated knowledge of conflict mediation and mediation techniques. Supervisory experience.
