Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in chemistry, materials science, or related fields. Three years of research experience. Applicant must have demonstrated experience, through publication including thesis, in conducting insitu electrochemical experiments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, be willing to take direction, and work well in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in electrochemical energy storage research and techniques. Demonstration through thesis and/or published work of familiarity with modern national facility based techniques. Experience in synchrotron and neutron characterization, including but not limited to X-ray diffraction, pair distribution function, small-angle scattering, x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES/EXAFS), and tomography. Experience in designing, fabricating and/or carrying out experiments with in situ experiments at large user facilities or on other sophisticated instrumentation. Experience in using glovebox and working under controlled atmosphere. Experience in scripting in Python, C/C++, and/or Matlab. Experience in using CAD 3D design software e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, 123D Design or other similar software to design new sample environments.

Brief Description of Duties:

  • Carry out team research in the field of electrochemical energy. Will design and develop research experiments to achieve the goals of the NECCES project.
  • Collect, analyze and evaluate data, utilizing specialized skills in Rietveld analysis, PDF analysis and python scripting.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. Participate in EFRC meetings, discussion and provide reports and presentation on research progress according to EFRC guidelines.
  • Assist in grant and proposal writing.
  • Lab management; participate in research group discussion, meetings and assist in supervising students in electrochemistry and scattering data analysis. Provide leadership in establishing a safe working environment within the lab
  • Other duties as assigned.

Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
