The Department of Emergency Medicine has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Pathways System Coordinator (Open-Rank) position.

Intermediate Professionals:

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Senior Professional:

Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed fully independently.

Position Emphasis:

This position will provide project management support to three Department of Emergency Medicine initiatives: the Clinical Pathways Committee, the Data Analytics Team, and the Emergency Department's Process Improvement Committee. An individual in this position will work in a self-directed manner, and must have excellent prioritization skills. This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position may be filled at the intermediate professional through senior level, depending on the successful candidate's education, experience, and suitability for a particular position.

Specific Duties:

  • Work with physicians, nurses and operational leadership to translate complex clinical processes into clinical pathways.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the clinical pathway development and approval process, including editing clinical pathways in an iterative process, scheduling review meetings, sending regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with a team of multiple data analysts to manage current and future work, triage new data analytics-related requests, track the status of data projects, and communicate with data requesters.
  • Represent the analytics team at weekly and monthly meetings, and collaborate with leadership to help promote data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Assist department process improvement leadership in planning and executing department-wide events.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by assigning tasks and tracking project progress.
  • Provide ad-hoc project management support for other department priorities as needed.


PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Appointment:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, systems engineering, industrial engineering or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of experience with project management and/or coordination.


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Senior Appointment:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, systems engineering, industrial engineering or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) year of experience with project management and/or coordination.


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting , education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience utilizing project management tools.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and/or other process improvement methodologies, concepts and tools.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience using Epic or another electronic health records software.


Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of statistics or data analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to organize and follow through multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to various situations.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with Microsoft Visio preferred.
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis skills.
  • Ability to effectively explain processes and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to represent the University in a professional manner with tact and diplomacy.
