The University of Virginia Library seeks an Advancement Associate to join its dynamic team. The Advancement Associate, under the direction of the Executive Director, assists in building the major gift pipeline for the Library by meeting with potential prospects, qualifying, and partnering with major gift officers regarding opportunities for participation. This incumbent communicates information about the upcoming campaign, renovation of Alderman Library, and the Dean's campaign priorities. This position is a vital member of the Library Advancement Team and plays a key role in achieving the Library's vision for its third century.
A Bachelor's degree is required. At least one year of prior experience in development, sales, or a related field is required. Applicants must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate the Library's mission and goals and how they fit within the University's overall mission and goals. Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records is essential. The ability to cultivate and maintain effective relations with colleagues, alumni, and prospects is required. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office and demonstrate a willingness to learn new software and applications. Preference will be given to applicants with a degree obtained from the University of Virginia. Demonstrated knowledge of the culture within the University of Virginia, and the Library is highly desired. Preference will be given to applicants with working knowledge of donor and event management software.
Applicants must have the ability to work nights and weekends as well as the ability to travel regularly nation wide.
*This is a restricted position with funding secured for two years, continuation of the position is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance*
