University Transit Service (UTS) at the University of Virginia's Department of Parking and Transportation is searching for two reliable, energetic, flexible, and responsible Operations Supervisors. The Operations Supervisor helps to oversee the operations of the fixed route transit service, provides direct management to driving and support staff, collects, compiles, and maintains data and reports results, and conducts public relations. Operations Supervisors serve as "on duty" contact with drivers on the road, responding to emergency situations and managing the daily operations of the transit effort.
A High School Diploma or Equivalent Required is required as are at least two years college education or work experience with a fixed route transit organization providing front line customer service. At least one year of experience within a pupil transportation or fixed route transit-providing organization is required. Applicants must have a Commercial Driver's License Type A or B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements. Applicants with a VA drivers license must have positive point balance. Applicants without a VA license must be able to obtain a Commonwealth of Virginia Commercial Driver's License within 30 days of hire. Applicants must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) Proficiency with web-based applications and possess the ability to quickly and efficiently learn new software and systems with minimal training is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of leadership experience. Knowledge of University Transit service routes and procedures is highly preferred. Applicants with skill, experience, and confidence with GPS Software, spreadsheets and database management are highly encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have strong verbal and written skills. Provide customer service, prepare reports, data collection, prepare correspondence, work with the public, operate two-way radio, complete forms and keep logs. Knowledge of highway regulations; effective verbal and listening communications skills; time management skills; ability to read and write in the English language to record and maintain daily route records; ability to deliver clear and concise verbal instructions through two-way radio communications; ability to provide friendly customer service and conduct positive, courteous, and respectful interaction with the public.
